Bournemouth’s Durley Dean, part of Folio Hotels, has reopened following the completion of the first phase of a £4.2 million refurbishment. The project has revitalised 70 of the hotel’s 121 bedrooms. Guests visiting the hotel can choose from 20 executive rooms and a suite complete with four poster bed. Other areas benefiting from a new look include the public areas and bar. The hotel décor follows a contemporary town house theme with traditional touches to complement the original elegant Victorian building. The hotel has also launched a new brasserie style restaurant, No 28 serving a traditional British menu with Mediterranean influences. The five meeting rooms in the hotel have been renamed after personalities involved in the building’s historic past, including the Kennedy Suite, named after Fred Kennedy, the first and only baby to be born at the former Durley Dean Hydro. Architects from the practice Hawker and Mitchell, who designed an extension to the original building, also have rooms named after them. Meeting rooms can cater for up to 200, offering state of the art facilities, free WiFi and a private bar, for meetings, weddings and local functions. Other hotel facilities include a leisure club and pool. The Durley Dean Hotel is located at 28 West Cliff Road, Bournemouth, BH2 5HE.
