Artist and illustrator Garry Thorburn, was born in 1970 in the small seaside town of Ayr on the west coast of Scotland.
He started drawing from an early age and showed great potential.
Through his school years his talents were picked up and was given many projects to tackle.
He left school at 16 years old, self taught in art, he pursued a career as an artist/illustrator in his home town.
In 1987 he started work as in-house artist and designer for a printing company.
His work soon grew and eventually he bought over the business and introduced new products and services based on his own artwork.
Ayr county council commissioned him to paint scenes and up and coming events onto empty shop windows to make the high street more exciting to tourists.
Soon many shops were asking for their windows to be decorated to entice more custom.
This led to many commissions for mural work, hand cut and painted signs and props.
Garry began drawing Caricature Portraits for customers locally, soon his work spread, supplying customers all over the UK and beyond.
Looking for ways to take his Caricatures further he came up with the idea of turning his work into cards and gifts for special events,
such as birthdays, Christmas and wedding stationery.
The Caricature Card Company was born.
