The 72,500-acre estate is part of the core area of the Cairngorm Mountains, internationally recognised as the most important nature conservation landscape in the British Isles. The estate contains four of the five highest mountains in Britain; it also includes the upper watershed of the River Dee and remnant Caledonian pine forest of national importance. The outstanding wildlife and birdlife on this prime example of a Highland estate are characteristic of the northern mountainous area of Britain. The lodge has been furnished to a high standard and offers guests the opportunity to relax in the elegant and comfortable atmosphere of this attractive property. Each of the five apartments is spacious and well equipped. Since they are all centrally heated throughout, they are ideal for visitors wishing to see this magnificent area not only in summer but also at its most beautiful with snow-capped mountains in the winter. There is extensive hillwalking at all times of the year, with downhill skiing at nearby Glenshee. Subject to availability, visitors may make use of the public rooms on the ground floor, consisting of the library, billiard room and drawing room. There is a dining room to seat 30 and a caterers' kitchen available to guests booking all five apartments. Please note there is an extra cost for this. Mar Lodge is an ideal venue for corporate entertaining. There are a number of rooms within the lodge suitable for business meetings, conferences and family parties. A ballroom, adjacent to the lodge, is also a popular venue for wedding receptions, ceilidhs etc and can cater for up to 130 guests.
