Recently used for the filming of ‘Miss Potter’, a film about Beatrix Potter starring Renee Zellweger, Low Millgillhead offers three self catering Georgian houses within two acres of gardens in the small village of Lamplugh. The main house, Millgillhead, offers stylish accommodation for up to ten people. Croft House is a splendid barn conversion with accommodation for up to twelve people. Rose Cottage sleeps four. Each house has it's own garden and they all face different directions. There is an internal door between Millgillhead and Croft House that can be left open if desired. Lamplugh is the perfect starting place to explore the fells, rivers, lakes and tarns of this beautiful part of the Lake District. There are a wide variety of walks right from the front door, or Loweswater Lake, is just four miles away, with Buttermere and Crummock just a mile or two beyond. The village pub (the Lamplugh Tip) is a mile and a half away. In the opposite direction is Ennerdale, with its lake, forest walks and mountain biking, rock climbing (including the challenging Pillar Rock), fishing, pony trekking and paragliding. For shops, Cockermouth (just 7 miles away) has a large Sainsbury’s as well as a wide variety of smaller independent shops, pubs and cafes. The Kirkstile Inn at Loweswater is renowned throughout the Lakes for the quality of its food and ales. This four hundred year old pub has excellent food, open fires and its own brewery, and was awarded the CAMRA Pub of the Year for West Cumbria and Western Lake District in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
